THE Seif Ples Gender-Based Violence Crisis and Referral Centre was honored to receive a generous donation from Miss Solomon Islands 2024, Elsie Polosovai, at the Rove Police Headquarters this week.
The donation, which included two 20kg bags of rice, one carton of Soltuna, and an envelope of money, will go towards supporting women, girls, and children who are victims of domestic violence.
Brightlyn Beauty, Seif Ples Centre Manager, expressed gratitude for Polosovai’s visit, highlighting how it represents an act of women empowerment and solidarity.
“We are so happy to have met her personally, and her donations are an example of women empowering other women, especially those affected by domestic violence,” Beauty said. “This support will strengthen and uplift these women, girls, and children, giving them hope.”
The donation coincides with the 16 Days of Activism campaign, which aims to end gender-based violence. Beauty emphasized how much this support means to the Seif Ples staff and the victims they assist. The centre provides a safe haven for those fleeing domestic violence, offering care and shelter as well as guidance for their future.
Miss Solomon Islands, Elsie Polosovai, shared her heartfelt appreciation for the opportunity to visit the centre and contribute to its mission.
“It is very nice and heartfelt to be here and happy to give this token of support to help victims at Seif Ples,” Polosovai said.
She took the time to meet with staff and engage with the individuals at the centre, learning firsthand about the important work done by the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force in supporting victims of domestic violence.
