Every thriving business begins with a simple idea and the courage to act on it. For Beckgrid Fox, that spark came from watching seafood boil videos on TikTok and YouTube. What started as curiosity soon grew into the foundation of L’s Corner Co., a home‑based venture in Honiara that is quickly winning the hearts—and taste buds—of customers across Honiara.

Originally from Isabel and Malaita, Beckgrid runs L’s Corner Co. from her home, specialising in seafood boil trays known for their freshness and flavour. The name L’s Corner carries deep personal meaning, combining the initials of her father, her late mother, and her daughter. The word Corner reflects the diverse range of services she offers: beyond seafood boils, she also bakes, sews, and does braiding.

Her inspiration came after noticing that seafood boils—popular overseas—were not yet offered as a business in Honiara. “I thought if I start it here in the Solomon Islands, I would be the first,” she said. With determination, she taught herself through online videos, practicing until she perfected her recipes.

Beckgrid’s love for cooking began at age eight while living with her late grandmother, whose dream was to one day own a restaurant. Today, Beckgrid carries that dream forward through her growing business.

Despite rising demand, she faces practical challenges. Her kitchen space is small, and she lacks larger cooking equipment and a bigger fridge to store fresh seafood. Still, she prioritises quality, ensuring every tray is prepared fresh and served hot at pickup. Family and friends have played a key role in promoting her business, recommending her dishes to their workplaces. Customers often tell her that while others have started selling seafood, none match the taste and freshness of L’s Corner Co.

Looking ahead, Beckgrid hopes to expand from her home kitchen into a dedicated space where she can serve more customers and invest in better equipment. Her message to young entrepreneurs is simple: start small, use what you have, and let your business grow naturally.

From learning to cook beside her grandmother to building a business inspired by social media, Beckgrid Fox’s journey is a reflection to how passion, endurance and family support can transform a simple idea into a thriving enterprise. As she works toward opening her own shop, her vision for L’s Corner Co. continues to grow—an inspiring reminder to young Solomon Islanders that with hard work and belief in yourself, even the smallest idea can become something extraordinary.
