Solomon Islands weightlifting champion Jenly Tegu Wini, widely known as the “Iron Lady,” is preparing to compete at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, which will take place from July 23 to August 2, 2026 for the fifth time in her illustrious career.

Speaking to SOLOMON WOMEN about the achievement, Wini described reaching her fifth Commonwealth Games as a significant milestone and a proud moment in her sporting journey.

The veteran athlete said that age is no barrier to success and remains determined to perform at the highest level. With just four weeks remaining before the Games, Wini is intensifying her training and working hard to ensure she is in peak condition for the competition.

“I am looking forward to competing and representing our country,” she said.

As one of the Solomon Islands’ most accomplished athletes, Wini continues to inspire many through her dedication, perseverance, and commitment to sport. Her participation in another Commonwealth Games highlights her enduring passion and determination to proudly represent the nation on the international stage.

Wini will train in Dromana, Melbourne, under the guidance of renowned coach Paul Coffa as she prepares for what will be her fifth Commonwealth Games appearance.
