WELSI President Pamela Naesol Alamu has highlighted the organisation’s commitment to strengthening women’s pathways into senior executive and higher decision-making roles, as the Women in Executive Leadership Solomon Islands (WELSI) prepares to host its Women Connect Breakfast and Panel Discussion Networking Event this Thursday in Honiara.

Ms. Alamu said WELSI continues to build a sustainable platform that supports women’s advancement into leadership, through advocacy, ecosystem development, and capacity strengthening. She reaffirmed that WELSI’s mission is to ensure more women are equipped, recognised, and supported to step confidently into executive roles across the country.

The leadership forum, scheduled for 9 July 2026 at Heritage Park Hotel, will bring together women leaders, stakeholders, and partners to discuss practical pathways for increasing women’s representation in senior executive and decision-making spaces.

The event aims to generate meaningful dialogue on the challenges and opportunities facing women in leadership, while also strengthening connections among alumni of WELSI’s Senior Executive Women in Leadership Program. Representatives from government, private sector, development partners, civil society organisations, academic institutions, and both senior and emerging women leaders are expected to attend, reflecting the broad support for advancing women’s leadership in Solomon Islands.

A moderated panel discussion will examine the progress made so far, the gaps that remain, and the barriers that continue to hinder women’s advancement into higher decision making roles. It will also explore leadership development, executive capacity building, mentorship and sponsorship, institutional support, and new opportunities for strengthening women’s pathways into senior leadership.

The networking component of the event will provide a space for participants to reconnect, build professional relationships, and reinforce support systems that help women rise into executive roles.

The Women Connect Breakfast and Panel Discussion Networking Event aligns with WELSI’s mission to promote dialogue on the status of women in executive leadership, identify barriers to progression, highlight strategies that enable women to advance, and strengthen collaboration among stakeholders committed to women’s leadership.
