SINCE 2015, the HJ Sewing Centre has been lighting the path for many to pursue their dreams and embark on new sewing business careers. The center has become a beacon of hope for those seeking a second chance, providing valuable skills and empowering individuals to become entrepreneurs.
In an interview with the SOLOMON WOMEN, Joe Lovi, the passionate owner of HJ Sewing Centre, shared his journey of helping people transform their lives through two-week training programs.
“We started our pattern drafting training back in 2015, and the training consists of two parts: theory and pattern drafting in the first week, and practical sewing in the second week. The course is designed to cater to a diverse group, from school dropouts, housewives, and young girls on holiday, to professionals like nurses and teachers,” said Lovi.
The training has had a significant impact, especially for those struggling to make ends meet. Lovi, who holds an Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design, is deeply motivated to take the training to the next level, hoping to inspire young people to explore the field of fashion design.
“I want to take this course into fashion design to motivate our youth to pursue this field. We need to provide quality products for our own people, instead of relying on foreign businesses,” Lovi stressed.
With over 100 students trained since 2015, HJ Sewing Centre continues to offer courses, with a class capacity of 10 students per session. The training is designed to give individuals, particularly housewives, school dropouts, and young men, the opportunity to start their own businesses.

“The motto of HJ Sewing is ‘Changing one life, one stitch at a time.’ My advice to women and youth is if you want to earn money at the comfort of your home and become self-employed, this is the shortest route to entrepreneurship,” Lovi shared.
Lovi calls on parents of school dropouts to consider the program as an alternative pathway to success.
“The formal education system has failed some of your children, but trust me, within just two weeks, I can help your child transform from a failing student to a self-entrepreneur and designer. They will earn their own money much faster than their classmates who follow the traditional education system,” Lovi stated.
For those interested, the next training session will run from March 17 to April 1, 2025, with a fee of $1900 for the two-week program.
The HJ Sewing Centre continues to make a difference in the lives of many, one stitch at a time, as it empowers individuals to pursue their dreams and achieve financial independence.
