Honiara, 20 July 2026 — The appointment of Ms Julia Twumasi as Acting Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Police, National Security and Correctional Services marks a significant moment for women’s leadership in the Solomon Islands public service. Her swearing‑in by the Governor‑General, His Excellency Sir David Tiva Kapu, highlights both her long-standing contribution to national security and the growing visibility of women in senior government roles.
Ms Twumasi steps into the role with over 20 years of public sector experience, beginning her career with the Solomon Islands Correctional Service in 2003. Her rise through the ranks has been defined by discipline, strategic leadership, and a deep understanding of the country’s security landscape.
As Deputy Secretary – Corporate Services since 2020, she has overseen critical portfolios including finance, human resources, procurement, logistics, governance, and risk management. Her leadership has shaped the ministry’s corporate backbone, ensuring stability and accountability across its operations.
Her academic achievements further reinforce her professional strength. Ms Twumasi holds a Master of Business Administration, multiple postgraduate qualifications in business administration, and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of the South Pacific. She also earned a Diploma in Business (Finance) from SINU.
