FOR Mary Polosovai, the joy of seeing her daughter, Elsie Polosovai, crowned Miss Solomon Islands 2024 is a moment of immense pride and reflection.

In an interview with SOLOMON WOMEN, Mary shared her thoughts on Elsie’s transformation throughout the pageant, describing how the experience has not only matured her daughter but also empowered her in ways that will undoubtedly shape her future.

Mary expressed that the journey through the Miss Solomon Islands platform provided Elsie with invaluable experiences, which she believes will be a significant asset to her daughter’s career.

“I am confident to say that she has matured a lot, gained an incredible amount of experience, and has been greatly empowered to have done extremely well by winning the crown,” Mary said.

Beyond the crown, Mary highlighted how Elsie’s involvement in the pageant has strengthened her leadership skills and broadened her connections with potential employers. This, she believes, is a crucial bonus that will help Elsie as she navigates her future endeavors.

With the upcoming Miss Pacific Islands Pageant (MPIP) on the horizon, Mary is optimistic about Elsie’s chances. She’s confident that the experience and support Elsie received during the Miss Solomon Islands pageant have equipped her with the assurance, courage, and determination to represent Solomon Islands with pride.

As Elsie prepares for this next step, Mary assures that the family will stand by her side, offering every support needed to ensure her journey is smooth.

“We will render every support she needs by working closely with her team to ensure her smooth journey on the Miss Pacific Pageant Competition,” Mary admitted.

Reflecting on the broader impact of the pageant, Mary emphasized the importance of such platforms in empowering young women. She believes that pageant shows like this play a crucial role in building confidence, providing empowerment through advocacy, and serving as an inspiration to others.

Likewise, Mary expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Elsie’s sponsors, the Lauru Peoples Association (LPA), her technical team, and the general public for their unwavering support throughout Elsie’s journey.

“We are so happy, honored but humbled for the opportunity for Elsie to represent Solomon Islands at the Pacific Pageant,” she said, her voice filled with pride and anticipation for the future.

Ms Elsie Polosovai is the eldest child in a family with four siblings. Her parents reside in Auckland, New Zealand, and have come to the Solomon Islands to watch her contest for the Miss Solomon Islands crown and were thrilled with the outcome. Ms Polosovai’s father works as a Maintenance Technician, while her mother works as a High School teacher.
