A senior woman figure recently participated in the Transformation Leadership workshop has spoken highly of the fundamental benefits she has received out of the constructive training held in Honiara.

According to the Nurse Supervisor of Afio Health Centre, South Malaita, Lucy Sita, the opportunity given to me to attend the workshop has benefited my understanding on the respective issues relating to the broad topic of leadership.

“I have learned so much from such significant training, therefore, am absolutely glad and humbled to be chosen as a participant to attend the leadership workshop but more especially to gain a much more deeper understanding in the topic of being a ‘Transformational Leader’.

“Being one of the head nurses at Afio Health Centre, the training has given me a great privilege and opportunity to advance my understanding on how to be a leader with transforming qualities. I strongly believe the workshop will help me boost my current leadership level as a Nurse Supervisor,” she added.

The Transformational Leadership workshop organised by the Vois Blo Mere Solomon Islands and funded by the United Nation Development Programme (UNDP).

Mrs Sita confirmed to Solomon Women that such training is also very important for men and women (gender leadership) leaders in the country to know their fundamental rights and leadership roles in their communities.

“Both genders (Men and Women) must learn to accept and share equal leadership rights and responsibilities in terms of natural resources and everything in the communities, churches, work places and in all works of life.

Our country’s political leaders should transform their quality and style of leadership. They must acquire and put into practise the characters of being good leader.

“Therefore, I want to encourage women in Solomon Islands to know more about the gender equality and equal rights, because this is the only way women could be recognised in their communities as leaders in the future,” she said.
