DEANNE NGINA ENOCH, the 23 year old young lady who hails from Western and Choiseul Provinces is the newly crowned Miss Solomon Islands 2015.

Miss Enoch has just completed her fourth year in Law studies (LLB) at the University of Papua New Guinea this year.

With interests that lie in her passion for singing, interacting with friends and families, volunteering and more so, willing to learn and work with new people every day, Miss Enoch will be representing Solomon Islands in the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant in Cook Islands this month.

Solomon Women’s Newspaper did an exclusive with her and she shared her journey into the Pacific islands contest and some aspirations for the competition.

Miss Enoch said the team left the country on December 1st transiting through to Fiji, New Zealand and then to Cook Islands.

She said now the team is getting ready for Cook Islands Miss Pacific Islands contest and preparations are going well so far.

Sarah Nihopara and former Miss SI chaperone- Tema Wickham is training her for public speaking, Wardrobe preparations (dresses) by the RAZE team, and all the contestants chaperones will be involved in preparation as this will be a more collective representation of Solomon Islands as a whole in terms of the Miss Pacific Islands Traditional Contemporary wear, she said.

Miss Enoch said so far preparations are looking good and underway.

“This event is going to be a tough yet challenging one for me and a once in a lifetime experience as it will be a big event competing with other pacific islands contestants, yet I’m looking forward to it.

She is looking forward to showcase the beauty of her home country, Solomon Islands through the different categories she will be competing on like traditional contemporary wear and so forth.

“I will try and present my very best into this Miss Pacific Islands as I will be representing my country,” she said.

Miss Enoch said her wish is to first educate herself well, and then she can work closely with the Ministry of Women to be an advocate for the issues and challenges our women faces every day.

“I think the only essence of winning this Miss Pacific Islands Pageant is to “just be yourself” and acknowledging God at all times, Miss Solomon shared.

“Beauty is already in oneself and it is just the matter of being yourself, be confident and show case what you really got inside of you.

“I believe that I am ready to represent my country in this Miss pacific Islands Pageant. Yes it all takes one to be more confident, perseverance, dedication and intelligence to be competing at this kind of level and I know I have some of these qualities in me and I’m willing to work closely with the team for this Miss Pacific Islands Pageant in this remaining days.

“Therefore, I believe that I am ready to be representing the country and compete in this Miss Pacific Islands,” she said.

In terms of public speaking she said she needs to sharpen my skills on public speaking a little bit more but on the whole she’s really confident and all good to go.

“I am looking forward to share my views and contribute on the issues that affect our women in and around the Pacific Islands, specifically in Solomon Islands.

“More so, to be a good ambassador and represent my country well in this Miss Pacific Islands Pageant,” she said.
