MISS Solomon Islands, Elsie Polosovai, was the guest of honor at the Wesley United Kindergarten’s closing ceremony held earlier this week at the Wesley United Church Hall.
In an exclusive interview with the Solomon Women’s Newspaper, Elsie shared her excitement and gratitude for being part of the special occasion.
“This was one of my first experiences attending a kindergarten closing program, and I am truly honored,” Elsie said. “It was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the pre-primary education system and to interact with the dedicated staff and leaders of the school.”
The event was filled with joy and celebration, with one of the highlights being the “King and Queen Show,” where the children dazzled the audience in colorful cultural costumes representing various provinces. “I really enjoyed watching the students perform and showcasing their beautiful cultural attire,” Elsie added.
Annie Galo, the supervisor of the Wesley United Church Kindergarten, expressed her appreciation for having Miss Solomon Islands attend the event. “This year’s academic closing is very special, especially with Miss Solomon Islands 2024 as our guest of honor,” she said. “It was a privilege for both our staff and students to meet her.”
A total of 42 students graduated from the kindergarten, marking a significant milestone as they prepare to enter primary school next year.
Elsie also mentioned that she had visited other schools around Honiara in recent weeks, continuing her role as a public figure dedicated to supporting education and community initiatives.
“I’m grateful for the invitation and wish all the graduands of Wesley United Church Kindergarten the best in their next educational journey,” Elsie said.
