SOLOMON Islands’ very own “Iron Lady,” Jenly Wini, has proudly acknowledged the hard work and dedication of Solomon Islands Weightlifting Federation coach Wendy Hale, following the impressive performances of two young weightlifters at the 2025 Oceania Junior and Youth Weightlifting Championships in Melbourne.

Freeman Hale and Robert Lafisi Hudson made the nation proud by securing medals in their respective categories. Freeman won two silver medals in the 71kg youth and junior categories, while Robert took home a bronze in the 65kg junior division.

Speaking to Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS) Media, Wini praised Coach Hale for her commitment.

“Coach Wendy has done a wonderful job. On behalf of the team, I want to thank her for supporting our young athletes. This kind of experience really motivates them to aim higher,” Wini said.

She also expressed her gratitude to Paul Coffa, General Secretary of the Oceania Weightlifting Federation (OWF), for his guidance and support during the competition.

Wini herself competed in the event and struck gold in the 58kg category, continuing her reign as the Solomon Islands’ Iron Lady.

As the junior lifters returned home over the weekend, Wini has remained in Australia to take part in the Oceania Elite Training Camp, setting her sights on even greater achievements.

“This is just the beginning for our young lifters. With the right support and guidance, they can go far,” Wini added.
