EMILYN Lusibaea Ramofolo has confirmed that she will stand in the 2024 joint elections for Pavuvu Ward 10 for the provincial assembly seat in the Savo/Russell Constituency, Central Islands Province.

The candidate, who is from the Russell Islands and Malaita province, said she decided to run in the provincial election as a catalyst to make a “positive change.”

With a bachelor degree qualification in secondary teaching coupled with years of experience in community service, Emilyn, 27, believes she is committed to making a positive change beyond the classroom, citing a holistic approach to education and community empowerment.

“My vision connects women, children, education, health, and job creation through a holistic approach to development. As a passionate supporter of advancement, my goal is to create for Pavuvu Ward a more promising future based on experience, education, and useful talents,” she told SOLOMON WOMEN.

The provincial election will take place on April 17.

Emilyn is contesting alongside four other candidates in Pavuvu Ward 10 of the provincial assembly seat in the Savo/Russell Constituency, with a vision grounded in empowering women and advancing community welfare.

Drawing inspiration from the remarkable efforts of young women role models in the Solomon Islands like Sharon Inone, Millicent Barty, and other inspiring women in the country. Emilyn is known for her humble and down-to-earth character, and she is determined to leverage her educational background for the betterment of her community.

Her platform emphasizes the pivotal role of education in empowering women and driving comprehensive community development.

With a keen focus on fostering leadership skills and creating supportive networks, Emilyn plans to establish women’s and girls’ associations to facilitate independent management and collective empowerment.

“Empowering women through education and other learning activities is about helping them grow and succeed,” Emilyn vowed. “Access to quality education equips women with the tools to make informed choices and actively contribute to community improvement.”

Emilyn’s campaign resonates with the importance of holistic education and community engagement in driving positive change.
