THE Anglican Church of Melanesia’s Women in Frontline initiative recently successfully concluded a transformative retreat and training for the spouses in clergy in the Diocese of Guadalcanal, according to the Anglican Church of Melanesia press statement.

The retreat program was held from July 22nd to 25th at the Good Shepherd Cathedral.

The training focused on conflict resolution, reconciliation, and supporting the work of clergy. With the theme “Empowering Clergy Wives for Church Leadership,” the training and retreat aim to strengthen the capacity of these women to serve as effective partners in ministry.

“The workshop was led by an inspiring team of Mrs. Dora Dawea, spouse of the Arch Bishop of ACOM, and Mrs. Loe, spouse of the Bishop of Guadalcanal, along with the dedicated facilitation team led by Mrs. Tagolyn, which provided a safe and supportive space for participants to learn to grow and connect.

“Since its inception, the Women on Frontline initiative has been committed to upholding the 5 principles: peace, purity, prayer, patience, and perseverance. This retreat further solidified the program’s dedication to these core principles and their role in building a stronger church.

“The participants expressed huge gratitude for the opportunity to learn new skills and gain a deeper understanding of their role in supporting their husbands’ ministry. They shared their experiences, challenges, and triumphs, promoting a sense of friendship and mutual support.

“This transformative retreat is a testament to the Women on the Frontline initiative’s commitment to empowering clergy spouses and strengthening the fabric of the Anglican Church of Melanesia. By investing in the development of these women, the Church is investing in its future.

“The “Women on the Frontline” program in the Anglican Church of Melanesia is a vital initiative dedicated to empowering women, particularly the spouses of clergy, to become strong partners in ministry. Focused on five core principles—peace, purity, prayer, patience, and perseverance—the program provides training and support in areas like conflict resolution and reconciliation.

“Through retreats and workshops, it fosters growth, connection, and leadership skills, recognizing and enhancing the invaluable contributions of women to the Church’s mission and strengthening the overall fabric of the Church community,” ACOM press release stated.
