YOUNG weightlifting debutant Rowena Donga has made history for herself after winning 3 medals at this year’s 2022 Mini Pacific Games in the Northern Marianas.
The 15-year-old Mini Pacific Games medallists from Malaita province settled with 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.
Rowena told Solomon Women that she was overjoyed and excited about her winning performance at the Games.
“I am very happy and proud because it is my first time to perform and win medals in such a prestigious regional event,” she said.
The young athlete thanked her coaches, team managers, NOCSI, family, and friends in the Solomon Islands for supporting her all through the years.
“I also want to thank my dad who encouraged me and who worked hard for me to get here.
“Finally I would like to thank Solomon Islands National Institution of Sports (SINIS) for providing a professional venue for me to prepare ahead of the 2022 Mini Pacific Games in the Northern Marianas,” she said.
