MALAITA Council of Women President Martha Rurai described the recent ‘reflection workshop’ on the Safe Families Project as an important to pave way forward and to open doors on how to collaborate with the people at the rural community level.
Martha told Solomon Women that the past three days has helped women leaders in Malaita province to see and recognize people that they need to collaborate and establish a network in the rural community.
“This Reflection workshop on Safe Families has helped us to recognize more on who to work with and network within the community level and also the ward level,” she said at the Oxfam Safe Families Phase II annual reflection four days workshop.
She said that this will also help the community and ward levels to recognize us as doing part of their policies to implement the violence area and economic area which have policies that are emplaced where the government has endorsed.
The President pointed out that the workshop is an opportunity for Malaita women leaders to strengthen and improve their partnerships with their partners.
“I see this as an opportunity for women leaders in Malaita province to have the opportunity to come together as partners to strengthen our networks and improve our partnership and management,” she said.
Malaita’s Council of Women President later acknowledged the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) for their ongoing partnership in supporting the extension of this program.
