The Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) Women’s football level this year has improved compared to last year.
Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) Women Development Officer, Antoinette Miniti said this during one of the SIFF Press Conferences recently held.
“Definitely the level of football has increased since we have more teams that participated and are able to compete against the old clubs this year,” She said.
She also said that the increased number of clubs this year to 10 clubs saw the interest of women in football increased and improved.
“The increased number of clubs to 10 this year compared to 8 clubs last year saw more women especially in Honiara to show huge interest to join football.
“Some of the top teams find it difficult at times when playing some of the new clubs,” She said.
Meanwhile, she said, clubs that couldn’t move up the table have been assisted by SIFF through coaching and management training.
“The last two placed teams this year were fairly new clubs. Their performance is basically yet to reach the standard expected but also we have plans to help those clubs develop in terms of coaching and management training to assist them as well, and hope they will perform on the standard next year” Antoinette said.
The Solrais Women’s League was the biggest women’s league that SIFF organised this year followed by the Under-18 High school girls’ competition and also the Under-14 Girls league which was completed last weekend.
