A total of eight women have been appointed across the Prime Minister’s Office and its associated committees, according to the latest updated list of 58 political appointees released this week.
The appointments span key areas including the Prime Minister’s Private Office, PIMEU sectoral divisions, the Cabinet Monitoring Committee, Caucus, and the Prime Minister’s Special Envoys and Ambassadors.
Among the notable female appointees are Regina Lepping, newly appointed Women Ambassador; Grace Hilly, Ambassador for People with Disabilities (yet to sign her contract); Melinda Ki’i, Coordinator of the Cabinet Monitoring Committee; and Yvonne Ogaoga, Senior Legal and Legislative Officer.
Other women serving in senior roles include Lucy Roroi Tanasimae in the Social Sector, Hellen Irisitapa’a Elifiu in the Resource Sector, Ruth Sofu in Caucus, and Salote Jan Alana Ziru in the Prime Minister’s Private Office.
While women remain underrepresented making up just under 14% of all political appointees their presence across diverse sectors highlights ongoing efforts to strengthen women’s leadership within government structures.
The updated list confirms 58 political appointees, with several still pending contract signing.
