ANNA Leo has always followed her passion, which is to give back to her community at Tuvaruhu in Central Honiara.
Her love to empower talented young women and girls in her community has inspired her to establish and officially register the ‘Tuvaruhu Women Enterprise’ this year as a business entity.
“I’ve been through hard times trying to push the idea of creating a women-oriented group into existent, as a mother of three, despite being faced with many challenges in life, I have devoted myself to supporting my dream which is to empower young girls and women in my community to become role models to the young generations,” Anna told SOLOMON WOMEN.
Recently together with other women with the help of Tuvaruhu community leaders, Anna, 49, organized activities such as cookery and catering training, and art and craft training for young girls and women in her community.
“My role as a leader of Tuvaruhu Women Enterprise’ is to create opportunities for women and girls in my community. There is no more powerful feeling than empowering someone else”.
Her Tuvaruhu community group which is comprised of 16 members has showcased their creative talents by providing food catering and arranging flora arts design at this year’s world food day celebrations in Honiara.
