FEMALE Journalist Mavis Nishimura Podokolo of ‘Island Sun Media Company scooped the ‘Young Journalist of the Year’, ‘Reporting on the Pandemic’ and ‘MASI Recognition’ awards.

The awards were received during the Media Association of Solomon Islands (MASI) Awards Night held last Saturday evening at the ‘Cowboys Bar and Grill’ with the Theme: Celebrating Achievements and the Future.

A total of 14 Awards from different categories were included in this year’s Media Awards ceremony seeing Journalists from within the country receiving recognition from their hard work in the service provided through media as a ‘Fourth Estate’.

“Achieving these Awards, I thank MASI, colleagues and the Island Sun Company for the ongoing support towards covering the current Pandemic,” said Podokolo

“Was not expecting these awards, but I look forward to keep working alongside the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) to keep our nation informed over updates relating to this current Coronavirus [Covid-19] Pandemic.”
