Nerrolle Vaekesa, the new Director of Vois Blo Mere Solomon, says stepping into this leadership role feels like coming home.
In an interview with Solomon Women, Nerrolle spoke about her deep passion for women’s rights and the important work Vois Blo Mere does in giving women a voice across the country.
“As a media organization that focuses on women’s rights and awareness, this is truly my passion,” she said.
Nerrolle shared that she has worked in other organizations doing similar work, and she is excited to return and help rebuild Vois Blo Mere as a strong platform for women’s voices—reaching rural and urban communities, and even the wider Pacific region.
“The goal is to take the voices of women everywhere—not just in the Solomon Islands, but throughout the region,” she said.
Looking ahead, she said one of the organization’s main priorities is to grow stronger internally and expand its reach across all nine provinces. She also hopes to work more closely with national organizations like the National Council of Women and other civil society groups.
“Our plans are to build up our internal capacity, reach out to women in all provinces, and take women and girls’ stories to another level of engagement,” she added.
Vois Blo Mere Solomon was revived earlier this year and now has a small but dedicated team of four staff: Director Nerrolle Vaekesa, Finance and Admin Officer Bernadette Isatahi, Program and Research Officer Patricia Kolaoi, and Business Development Officer Nilrick Lilivae.

Nerrolle says she is both excited and ready to lead. “This is not just a job. It’s a mission close to my heart.”
