THE Tulagi Women’s Development Committee has partnered with the Provincial Council of Women, Provincial Women’s Division, and local women’s groups to establish the Tulagi Mere Market in the Central Islands provincial capital, Tulagi.

This initiative, officially launched last Friday, aims to provide a sustainable platform for local women and girls to sell their products while fostering skills development and networking opportunities.

The launching was attended by the MPA for Tulagi, Hon .Michael Salini, Tulagi Women’s Development Committee (WDC) members, Tulagi women’s and the general public.

The Mere Market is set to operate on a fortnightly basis, ensuring a continuous avenue for local women to engage in economic activities. The program will also include capacity-building initiatives, offering various training sessions to equip women with knowledge and skills that can be valuable for their families and communities.

Speaking at the launch, the Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) for Tulagi Ward, Hon. Michael Salini, encouraged women to seize this opportunity by organizing themselves and actively participating in the market.

He stressed the importance of such initiatives in strengthening women’s economic independence and contributing to community development.

He also encouraged Tulagi women to get organized and utilize such opportunity to sell products.

With strong community support and strategic partnerships, the initiative is to make a lasting impact on the lives of women in Tulagi, fostering economic resilience and social empowerment.

WDC is partnering with the provincial council of women and provincial women’s division and Tulagi women groups to ensure the program is sustainable into the future.
