INTERNATIONAL Women’s Day (IWD) 2025 is a powerful celebration of the contributions, achievements, and progress made by women across the globe.
Observed annually on March 8, this day serves as both a reflection on the accomplishments of women in every sphere of society and a call to action for gender equality. In 2025, the theme of International Women’s Day is “Accelerate Action.” This call to action emphasizes the urgency of faster, more deliberate efforts to close the gender gap and create a world where every woman and girl has equal access to opportunities, freedom, and justice.
Solomon Power female staff gathered on Monday 10th March 2025, to mark this important occasion. The Guest speaker was our Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Delilah Homelo, who is the first ever female to take up this role at Solomon Power, a big achievement for women in the Energy Sector.
In her talk Mrs. Homelo stated, “If we want to be recognized for our work we need to put in the time and effort and play our part to show them that we are able to do our jobs.” This way we can accelerate the actions we want taken. Her powerful testimony on her journey was very informative and inspiring.
International Women’s Day 2025 is a day for both celebration and reflection. It is a time to recognize the achievements of women around the world, but also to acknowledge the challenges that remain. While the theme of “Accelerate Action” calls for urgency, it also provides hope and motivation for collective progress.
Together, we can accelerate action, turning our collective will into tangible steps toward a more equitable and just world for women and girls everywhere.
In the words of famous activist Malala Yousafzai, “We realize the importance of our voice when we are silenced.” The time to act is now — let us not be silent in the face of injustice but raise our voices to accelerate action for gender equality in 2025 and beyond.
