ONE OF the country’s Citizens who recovered from COVID 19 infection in Honiara, the Member of Provincial Assembly for ward Six (6) South Ranogga in the Western Province, Ms. Oelyn Muala, advises her people to work together to prevent Coronavirus from reaching Ranogga communities.

“I want my people to continue to follow health advises and practice the COVID 19 safety measures.”

MPA Oelyn said, as the MPA for south Ranogga she wants to give her advice to people in her ward as, “Coronavirus has now reached our country unlike in the past we only heard of it in other countries, now the virus is at our doorstep.”

“I want to advise my people to extra take care, look after themselves and follow all the rules. Those who usually come to Gizo market are mainly from ward six, my ward. So, it is risky for them, as they might get infected and spread it in the community when they return home.”

So, I advise my people to always use masks and hand sanitizers, and other important rules, and also buy sanitizers for their families at home, and do their best to prevent themselves from contracting coronavirus.

“I’m also infected by the covid during the lockdown here in Honiara, but now have recovered and it took me three days to recover.” She said.

“I advise people to continue with steaming and drinking lemon juice. Cut the fruit and mix in warm water and also drink plenty of water.

The symptom is like Malaria, it felt like malaria. Headache, fever, joint pain so you might think it’s malaria. If you check for malaria and the result comes back negative then that must be corona. Also, I experienced no sense of taste and smell.”

“I used lemon leaves to steam for an hour, I steam for an hour to bring out all the sweats, and then after that, I put my feet into the same hot water. So, it is also like pneumonia with pain on the joints, which I think massage will be helpful as well for blood to flow through the veins.” She said.

And also, ginger is good as well, and for people at home they have ginger, not like here in town, ginger is expensive.

Just mix ginger with water and drink,  and also Panadol that can also help, that’s my advice for my people in ward six south Ranogga.

She advises families to take extra care of the vulnerable ones like the sick and aged members of the community, infants, and pregnant women.

“So, for my people, just follow the health rules, take care of your families, work together and help each other to prevent coronavirus from spreading to our communities.”

The MPA advises people in her community not to panic and stress as she said, symptoms of corona are like that of other flu, and at home, people have coconuts and a lot of water to drink.

She said people living in the villages have, root crops, vegetables, and fruits to help sustain them, all they need to do is to organize and prevent themselves from contracting the contagious virus.

As of 9 am 8th February, the country has recorded a total of 3667 COVID-19 Cases nationally. During this same period, Western Province recorded a total of 116 positive COVID-19 cases. The Hotspots are Gizo, Noro, and Munda.
