LADY Margaret Kenilorea was honored as a pioneer of the South Seas Evangelical Church’s (SSEC) Central Church Sunday school ministry at Honiara Central Church’s 60th-anniversary celebration on October 27th.

In her speech, Lady Margaret, the widow of the late Sir Peter Kenilorea, the first prime minister of the Solomon Islands, reflected on her journey and shared her memories of her time teaching Sunday school starting in 1979.

“I remember bringing my first four children to enroll in classes,” she recalled, expressing appreciation for the friendships and bonds formed with fellow teachers, including her late friend, Mrs. Eliphelet Kakae.

The 74-year-old Lady Margaret said that teaching young children the Bible was her greatest delight and passion after more than 4 decades of service.

“I love sharing stories from God’s word and doing activities with them. Telling them about Jesus was my greatest joy.

“Many more wonderful teachers and staff joined us over the years, some of them who are still serving today and some who have gone to be with the Lord. It is by God’s grace that I was able to serve in this ministry for more than 40 years,” she stated.

Lady Margaret also recognized the commitment of past teachers in supporting the ministry.

“To our teachers, thank you for your hearts and your efforts.

“To the children, you are loved, blessed, chosen, special, and able to do anything you commit to the Lord.

“To the parents and guardians, God will give you the grace and wisdom to guide your children in his ways, and to the leaders and church members, thank you for the ongoing support for the Sunday school ministry here.

“Today we celebrate together God’s goodness and faithfulness in this ministry,” Lady Margaret said.
