The Australian Federal Police (AFP) recently gifted three sets of Netball uniforms to the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) Police Netball Club (PNC), with support of the RSIPF and AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP).

The uniforms build on the RAPPP Health, Wellbeing and Community Engagement (HWCE) Project; enhancing physical health and wellbeing of officers, and connection with communities.

Support to fitness initiatives also builds on the close relationship of support, professionalism and friendship the AFP shares with the RSIPF, through RAPPP and PCLEC.  The partnership continues to play a vital role in promoting the physical health of our police, and stability and resilience in the Solomon Islands and across the Pacific region.

The Pacific Community for Law Enforcement Cooperation (PCLEC) is a Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police (PICP) initiative established in 2020 to build the capability of Pacific police organisations through coordination and the sharing of information and resources across the region.  These netball uniforms were coordinated through Small Grants which is a PCLEC initiative.

Vice President of the PNC, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Simpson Pogeava said, “The new uniforms provide the players a professional and confident image to represent the RSIPF in the sporting arena with pride.”

AC Pogeava said the PNC represents the RSIPF in our communities, demonstrating discipline and a drive to achieve excellence.  RSIPF builds connectivity with our communities through sportsmanship and competition.  The vibrant new uniforms help the team to demonstrate the values of the PNC

Supervising Director National Criminal Investigation Department, Inspector Betty Tagini said, “I believe that next year when the girls’ step onto the Court in these uniforms, they will play with pride, confidence and the determination to win.”

Supervising Director Tagini said, “A special thank you also goes to AC Simpson for your continuous support to us despite your busy schedule. We are truly grateful, and we will honour this gift from the Australian Federal Police by giving our very best on the Court.”

“On behalf of the PNC, I want to sincerely thank PCLEC for funding our beautiful uniforms and also to RAPPP through our Advisor Fran for helping me push this through. The gifting of the new uniforms marks a very special moment for PNC since for the past years our team has played without a standard dress uniform,” Mrs Tagini said.
