The Ministry of Health and Medical Services officially launched its Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign this morning at the CT Scan Conference Room at the National Referral Hospital (NRH), bringing together health officials, medical representatives, development partners, and community members to promote the importance of early detection and screening.
The program featured keynote remarks from Senior Program Manager Erin Ferguson and Permanent Secretary for Health Dr Gregory Jilini, who highlighted the significance of increasing public awareness about breast cancer and encouraging regular health checks.

As part of the event, breast cancer survivor and volunteer Yvonne Ogaoga shared her personal testimony, offering encouragement and hope to women and families affected by the disease.
Attendees also received an overview of Breast Cancer Awareness Month activities aimed at educating the public on prevention, early detection, and available screening services.
The launch concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony, closing remarks, and media interviews involving representatives from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, the Solomon Islands–Australia Partnership, and medical imaging professionals.
The awareness campaign seeks to strengthen public understanding of breast cancer and reinforce the lifesaving importance of early detection and timely screening.
