THE Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Commerce, Immigration, Labour, and Industries, Riley Mesepitu has praised the Australian government’s ongoing partnership with the Solomon Islands Government towards the development and growth of women entrepreneurs in the country.
Speaking today at the official opening of the Solomon Islands Women in Business Association (SIWIBA) ‘Mini Fair Trade Market – ‘Kam Baek Event’ in Honiara, Permanent Secretary Riley hailed Australia’s credible support.
He revealed that the four-day iconic ‘Mini Trade Fair Market’, reflects the fruition of the credible partnership of the Solomon Islands Government (SIG) and Australia through Strongim Bisnis to break the barrier, bridge, gaps, and improvise on the notable challenges affecting women entrepreneurship development.
“I greatly acknowledge and appreciate the government of Australia through Strongim Bisnis for its ongoing partnership with SIG in our efforts to continue our support towards the development and promoting the growth of women entrepreneurs in the country.
“I hope that the trade fair this week will provide an avenue where our women entrepreneurs will showcase some of their products and as that they been working despite the pandemic,” Riley said.
He added that such an event can further enhance women’s basic knowledge and skills so that they can realize their potential and be determined to creatively resolve their common weaknesses and constraints of their micro-enterprise.
“Such an event contributes to transmitting valuable knowledge skills and confidence to support our women as game changers through micro small medium enterprise investment opportunities to create employment and income to improve the livelihoods of our rural population,” the Permanent Secretary said.
