THE current Miss Pacific, Christine Anne Dunn has arrived today in the country on a 3-day visit with the aim to interact and support the 2017 Miss Solomon Islands Pageant (MSIP) contestants.
In an interview upon arrival, the reigning regional queen says that she is overwhelmed being in the Solomon’s for the first time.
“My visit here is purposely sort of to meet and greet with the contestants who are vying for the Miss Solomon Islands crown. Most likely get to know them and how does it feels to live here,” Says Ms Dunn.
“On my visit I expect like enrichment of learning about the country as it is my first time here, and I’m very excited. And I’m hoping to get a little bit of knowledge and experience.
She also encourages the seven contestants taking up the challenge being a role model for women.
“I encourage the ladies to believe in themselves, give their best and have fun. I would like to say is for them to be able to remember themselves, who they are and inspire and encourage those who look up to them as they are on a platform to be role models especially women in the country.
She added that in the Pacific as a whole there are many issues concerning women.
“There’s a lot of different issues concerning women particularly in the Pacific and there are ways that can be addressed through various sectors.
“Women in parliament, which I advocated for and also domestic violence against women although there might be some against men as well, so there’s lot of issues scattered so being on the platform on pageant probably a something that a woman can fight for tackling these issues.
Major pageant sponsors Coral Sea Resort and Solomon Airlines made Miss Pacific visit here possible, as she will also be part of the contestant’s visits to the Prime Minister tomorrow.
