Women entrepreneurs in the Solomon Islands have taken another significant step towards strengthening and protecting their businesses following the successful hosting of the fourth Business Formalisation and TrigaCash Awareness Workshop by the Solomon Islands Women in Business Association (SIWIBA).
Held on Thursday, 8 October, at the SIWIBA Conference Room at NPF Plaza in Honiara, the workshop brought together 27 participants, including 21 women entrepreneurs from the informal sector, members of the SIWIBA team, and guest speakers from key partner organisations.

The workshop introduced participants to TrigaCash, a newly launched climate-risk insurance product designed to support farmers and small business owners against climate-related challenges. The initiative is a partnership between Trans Pacific Assurance Solomon Islands, SINPF youSave, and M-SELEN.
Representatives from the three organisations provided practical information on how the insurance scheme works, including its automatic payout system and registration process. Participants were also given the opportunity to sign up for the service during the workshop.

In addition to learning about financial protection, participants continued their journey towards business formalisation through sessions covering Company Haus registration, Inland Revenue Division (IRD) tax requirements, and business licensing processes. One-on-one mentorship support was also made available to assist entrepreneurs with their business registration needs.

The workshop marks the fourth event delivered under the ILO-SIWIBA Partnership Project on Formalisation of Business, which aims to help women-led businesses transition from the informal economy into the formal sector.
The session concluded with active registrations for the TrigaCash promotional offer, as well as sign-ups for youSave and M-SELEN services, reflecting growing interest among women entrepreneurs in building more secure and sustainable businesses.

SIWIBA acknowledged its partners for their continued collaboration and commended the participants for their commitment to strengthening, protecting, and growing their enterprises.
The initiative highlights the increasing momentum behind women’s economic empowerment in the Solomon Islands, providing women entrepreneurs with greater access to business registration services, financial inclusion, and climate-risk protection tools.
