Women from Gama Parish, East Gao Parish, and West Gao Parish gathered at Poro Village in Isabel Province to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Mothers’ Union (MU), joining millions of members across 84 countries in commemorating the organization’s rich legacy of faith, service, and family ministry.

The historic occasion brought together Mothers’ Union members, church leaders, and community representatives in a day of thanksgiving, worship, and reflection on the organization’s contributions to families and communities around the world.
Founded by Mary Sumner in 1876, the Mothers’ Union has grown into a worldwide Christian movement dedicated to supporting marriage, family life, and community well-being. Throughout its 150-year journey, the organization has played a significant role in nurturing faith and strengthening Christian values among families.
Addressing the gathering, Diocesan Mothers’ Union (DMU) President Grace Hebala delivered an emotional speech, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the generations of women whose dedication and leadership have shaped both the Church and family life.
Holding back tears, Mrs. Hebala acknowledged the faithful work of Mothers’ Union members and leaders who have served tirelessly over the years.

“The Mothers’ Union has been a powerful force in strengthening families and helping communities remain firm in their faith in Jesus Christ,” she said.
She paid tribute to the women who have faithfully served the church through prayer, leadership, and community outreach, emphasizing that their commitment continues to inspire future generations.

Mrs. Hebala also encouraged members to remain steadfast in their Christian calling and to continue supporting families facing challenges in today’s changing world.
The celebration highlighted the enduring vision of founder Mary Sumner, whose mission to unite mothers in faith continues to touch lives across the globe. As the Mothers’ Union enters its next chapter, members reaffirmed their commitment to serving Christ and strengthening communities through faith, prayer, and compassionate service.
The anniversary celebration concluded with thanksgiving prayers, fellowship, and renewed dedication to the Mothers’ Union’s mission of transforming lives and building stronger families throughout Isabel Province and beyond.
