WOMEN farmers of the Tiroqogu community in Gizo, Western province of Solomon Islands have been equipped with timely skills and knowledge on how to start and manage livestock husbandry projects.
After undergoing practical training facilitated by members of the Kastom Garden Association based in Honiara, the farmers were told to make good use of what they have learned from the piggery and poultry farming training.
The women farmers also took delivery of piglets from the Kastom Garden Association to start their projects.
Custom Garden training facilitator, Ms. Lodu encourages the farmers to work hard in making their piggery and poultry projects successful.
“These farming projects belong to you and not Kastom Garden Association.
“If you are a farmer, you are a millionaire.
“For those of us working in the formal sector, we don’t have enough money, we wait for two weeks (fortnights) before we see money,” she encouraged the women farmers.
