For many years, the congregation of Naoasi village have left their local church untouched from construction, however in 2016 through her leadership and directive as the chairlady of church fundraising committee, Mary decided to make a progress in the completion the church building infrastructure.

“As the chair lady of our local church committee, I have seen many challenges that members of this village have gone in terms of their endless commitments to funding contributions and fundraising activities to support the reconstruction of our local church,” she told Solomon Women.

However, in December of last year (2017) – the sacrifices and commitments of the rural congregation of Naoasi Community was finally paid off after the final completion and official opening of their new rural church building.

“After exactly two years of financial challenge in our efforts to raise funds for the new church building, it gradually made progress after the community witness the official completion and opening of the church construction project at the end of last year.

“This was a pride for me as a chair lady especially in taking up the great pride and responsibility in leading my people to complete the local church building in our village.

“After all it has been a great and uphill challenge for me especially being a female leader in trying to convince and organise the community with the fundraising efforts and also to ensure the draw up of an action plan to complete this church building,” she recalled.
