A female member of the Solomon Islands Women in Business Association (SIWIBA) has expressed her profound gratitude to the organisers of the recent 5-day Catering Business Training held in Honiara.
Jenny Ilisia told Solomon Women that the catering business training is an eye opener and a new learning curve for her to expand her knowledge and skills in the business of food catering.
“I joined this training because I want to run my own catering business. Over the years, I have possessed an eagerness to learn new knowledge and skills in the business of catering, cooking recipes and healthy food preparation.
“Therefore, I want to acknowledge the Association and its partners in offering this profitable opportunity to attend such rewarding training,” she added.
The training was organised and sponsored by SIWIBA and facilitated by EJAY Catering &Training Services with the aim to teach and help the Association’s women members on how to venture into food services business.
Catering is the business of providing food service at a remote site or a site such as a hotel, public house (pub), special events or other locations.
Ilisia has been offering food-catering service to various government ministries over the years and she is confident that such training will boost her income generating opportunity.
“The training has given me an extra confidence and an added value to my experience in the small business of food catering. I believe my customers will be much happier in my delivery of catering service in the future.
“From such important training, I believe it will improve my style of cooking and food preparation at home, since food brings family together,” she added.
The training is also part of the Association’s development plan on capacity building, which is to assist its members on such important specific trainings and courses.
Meanwhile, she encouraged young women including mothers in the country to join the Solomon Islands Women in Business Association.
“I want to strongly urge all women to register their membership affiliation with SIWIBA. The Association has been a driving force in promoting, developing and empowering women’s participation as business owners in the private sector.
“It has inspired many women in the country to realise their full potential, importance and status, and in the Society,” she said.
