Solomon Islands Karate athlete, Nancy Marle achieved a gold medal at the XVII Pacific Games 2023, citing hard discipline and hard work.

SOLOMON Islands Karate team for the XVII Pacific Games 2023 have demonstrated talent and triumph as they recently bagged a collection of medals from reaching the finals of the competition held in Honiara.
Pacific Games debutant, Nancy Marle who competed in the 68Kg category of the Karate women’s event managed to win Gold and her hard work was paid off after a win over New Caledonia on Thursday, last week at the SIFF Academy at King George.
“I’m very pleased as we had a different training preparation under the technical coaching staff of the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sports (SINIS) before the Pacific Games started to make sure everything goes well.
“I use every possible minute to train and I feel that all the hard work and discipline has paid off.
“I am also humbled and proud to win the gold medal. This is my first time to participate in such an Olympic style regional sporting event and to win a gold medal is great achievement,” the teenager from the mixed parentage of Malaita and Guadalcanal province told SOLOMON WOMEN.
Nancy thanked her coaches for all their hard work they have put together to support team Karate.
“I would like to thank all my coaches for their support and help they have put together to help me and the whole team towards this games,” Nancy said.
Nancy extends her acknowledgment to all her families and friends who supported her through words of encouragements.
