MAKIRA Provincial Premier Hon. Julian Maka’a thanked the Makira Ulawa Football Association and Solomon Islands Football Federation for their unwavering support and contributions to the development of women’s football in Kirakira.
Premier Maka’a made the remarks at the Makira Ulawa Football Association’s (MUFA) Women’s Capital League 2023 official opening in Kirakira, the provincial capital.
“I would like to sincerely thank the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) and the Makira Ulawa Football Association for their unwavering support in the development of women’s football in our province,” Premier Maka’a said. “Your support is crucial to empowering our women and creating opportunities through the beautiful game.”
The tournament at Kirakira Township officially began with a colorful parade to kick off the MUFA Women’s Capital League 2023. Premier Maka’a acknowledged the vibrant presence of women’s clubs at the opening ceremony and praised their enthusiasm and participation in Makira Ulawa.
“I commend all of the Makira Ulawa women’s clubs for their enthusiastic involvement and for adorning the inaugural ceremony with such vivid hues. In order to fulfill our goal of improving football in our province, your commitment to the game is not only admirable but also essential,” the Premier said.
Premier Maka’a used the occasion to remind everyone in Makira Province and the surrounding areas of the wider advantages of football outside of the playing field, especially for female football players. He underlined that playing soccer encourages friendship and solidifies interpersonal bonds, which enhances community cohesion and general well-being.
Prominent attendees of the opening ceremony included Hon. Julian Maka’a, Premier of Makira Ulawa Province; Mr. Dick, the Youth Development Officer (YDO); and Mr. Martin Karani, MUFA representative. Women’s football in the Makira Province is embarking on an exciting journey, and the ceremony was a vibrant celebration of the game’s spirit.
