Engaging in sport is one way to mend friendship among young youths and stop ones involvement in unwanted activities in our communities says Ms. Jessica Mana.
She begins her early stage involving in futsal game and initially making her way successfully trough to soccer and now become a midfielder and one of the most instrumental player in the Kossa women’s football club.
She sifts from futsal game to soccer after she was selected to play for her school soccer team during the school league championship in 2005.
Her participation in the school league whilst playing for the school team in the inter school championship tournaments, influenced her ambition and manipulate her self-esteem to spend the rest of her time in soccer she said.
Ask about the experience and difference she found between futsal and soccer she said “ futsal mainly concentrate in small space and usually involved only 5 players with slightly modified set of rules that somewhat a bit different from soccer she explains.
She added whereas soccer as we all understand it comprise of 11 players and can accommodates big space and it is also has set of rules that absolutely contradict to that of futsal.
…..“Otherwise both games are similarly common in basic platforms and strategy of good initiative to unearth the passion and potential of individual youths to discover their skill and talent said Mana.
Ask about significant thing she observed in sport she said, “ that sport does plays a vital role mostly in character building and discipline.
Yes sport does change one’s life into good behavior of respect; admiration and other virtues any one aspire in live explain Mana.
She said through sport you could build good relationship, set moral characters and create network, meet with new friend of different youth groups from different provinces, which could make your life more enjoyable and fascinating.
There is no time you can have to join the other unnecessary activity that usually ruins your life because most of your free time you often engage in sport she said.
Involving in sport diminish your desire for having involve in unwanted activities and verified your personality as sportsmanship she said.
“ I was once involved and experience the life of youthful lust enjoying the company of friends and colleagues doing bad things and extremely caught up in radical situations just to please the desire for being accepted amongst the peers.
But after all I realize it just a waste of time doing such things, nothing good I gain out of it, involving in such things gives me nothing but disgrace, regret and depression she recalls.
But whilst involving in sport my life is fully occupied and meaningful she said “ I have confidence in myself and my life is normal and more valuable as I reflect my personality she added.
My determination for being a sport person is paid off she recalls and my dream for being to overseas through sport was actually obtained.
I have been selected to be part of the instrumental young women who went out to represent the country women football team that compete during the recent South Pacific Games
However she explains in Melanesian culture people viewed soccer as only for men and withdraws for not fully render support for women
Whereas it should not happen in that way because when comes to sport women and men are equally competitive and support for both gender need to be equal with no segregation in any sport she said.
Moreover ask about how she manage her school work with her involvement in sport she said
“Time management is very important I have to finish all my school work before set off to the field
Ms. Mana indicates her favorite player is Martha the women footballer for the Brazil women team
And taught to be a soccer star in the future as one of her big dream she want to be a familiar figure in the soccer in the country she foretell.
Meanwhile Ms. Mana edge young women in the country to invest their interest in sport to avoid them from involving in the unwanted activities that might put their life’s into the risk situations.
