It’s great to see young women becoming leaders and making a difference.
We want to share the story of Angela Hou, who is a great example of this.

Angela is from West Are’are Pipisu village in Malaita Province.
In an interview, Angela talked about her journey and what she loves about her work.
As the Media Coordinator for the Media Association of Solomon Islands (MASI), Angela helps with workshops, training, and working with donors. She also works with MASI members and partners.

Angela said, “I wasn’t a media person before, but when I started, I saw how important media is in our country. That’s what made me love it.” She found out how strong media can be, even though she didn’t know much about it before.
Angela said, “I wasn’t good at public speaking, but the media helped me meet many people and leaders.”
She said that Georgina Kekea, the MASI President, helped her a lot in her first year. “One of the hardest things was learning how to be a good coordinator. But Georgina helped me learn how to talk to people and follow guide.”
Angela is inspired by how important media is. She said, “People need media, and as a coordinator, I want to do my best for the industry.”
Her advice to people who want to be media coordinators? “Not every job is easy, but it’s important to work together.

As a coordinator, you help people communicate, so make good relationships with everyone.”
Angela’s story shows how important it is to love what you do, have a mentor, and for women to support each other in leadership.
