PRIME Minister Hon. Manasseh Sogavare MP delivered keynote address as the Chief guest where he encouraged women to live their Christian faith through Christ-like action at a gathering of the City Women Connection (CWC), marking the local organization’s 10th Anniversary at the St. Barnabas Hall, Honiara, over the weekend.
The ceremony organized by the City Women Connection was interdenominational, comprising women groupings from SICA and SIFGA churches and headed by President Martha Alacky.
President Ms. Alacky said that CWC’s vision is to EMPOWER women, therefore it is currently building alliances with women community leaders, in fostering developmental aspiration in partnership with all women church groups by providing a forum for mutual support and sharing of information, ideas, experiences and opportunities.
Prime Minister Sogavare said in his keynote address, he was very encouraged by Christian based women organisations adding, women play a pivotal role in holding Solomon Islands as a nation together.
In a special reminder the Prime Minister stated, women are not Homogenous and should never be treated as such. Women compromised of many different backgrounds, some are teachers, business owners, house wives or maybe people with Special needs. Therefore their needs should be carefully looked into instead of being defined and lumped together as “Women”. All women aspirations are truly unique.
The CWC’s 10th Anniversary Celebration was attended by women groupings respectively in their hundreds and witnessed the launching of the organisation’s theme going into 2024.
Celebrations was filled with praise and worship and a shared meal to end their day.
City Women Connection is a stand-alone, Registered Charitable Local Organization, a Non-profit organization operating out of Honiara with a vision to reach out to women in the provinces.
CWC was founded in 2013.
