Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Women’s Futsal Team will take on the Australian Defence Force (ADF) Women in an exhibition match this Friday, November 28, at the Friendship Hall in Honiara.
The friendly match forms part of the Sports ADF International Sports Program (ISP) currently underway in Solomon Islands, a week-long initiative aimed at strengthening sports development, coaching capacity and international partnerships. The program was officially opened earlier this week with a welcome ceremony at Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS).
Under the ISP, ADF members have been delivering Level 1 and Level 2 coaching accreditation courses in Rugby Union and Football to local coaches, while also engaging with community sporting groups. The exhibition match will serve as the highlight and closing event of the program.
The game is scheduled to kick off at 3:00pm, with gates opening from 2:30pm. Entry is free and organisers are encouraging the public to come out in numbers to support both teams.
The Futsal showdown is expected to showcase talent, teamwork and competitive spirit, while further strengthening the sporting ties between Solomon Islands and Australia under the Solomon Islands–Australia Partnership.
RSIPF women will be looking to put on a strong performance on home ground, while the visiting ADF side brings experience and energy following a week of active engagement with local athletes and coaches.
Sports fans, families and community members are invited to attend and enjoy what promises to be an exciting and entertaining afternoon of sport.
