Eleven women members of the Honiara Council of Women left the country last month to work in an aged care centre in Australia.
Speaking to the Honiara Council of Women (HCW) Secretary Margarina Simi said the aim of the Age Care program is to help women find jobs in Australia to support their families at home.
She said: “This program helps women set goals and support families.”
“Age care is a very high demand job in Australia therefore we are making this program accessible for our women members,” Margarina said.
She thanked AlACC Health College in Melbourne for the agreement.

Before their travel last month, the women completed six months of Zoom training in Honiara.
The 11 women are now doing three months assessment in Melbourne before getting Certificate III in aged care and disability.
The program is under a memorandum of understanding between the Honiara Council of Women and the college to create job pathways for women.
“I encourage women to join the program to set goals and help their families,” said Margarina Simi.
The program targets single mothers and widows who struggle with daily needs in Solomon Islands communities.
Aged care work in Australia is in high demand, giving stable income and skills for workers from overseas.
This opportunity helps families in Honiara and builds experience for women who want better futures through overseas employment.
Officials hope more women will benefit from similar training and opportunities soon programs.
